Week 1
August 30th to September 3rd
As an introduction into AS level media studies, especially as a new student to both the school and the subject, we looked at the syllabus and a general overview of what would be covered in the next 2 years.
In my theory lesson, my class began to look at the different camera codes and their impact on the audience which allowed me to quickly understand simple and key concepts of media studies and film. In my practical lessons, I started to create my blog. I started off by looking at the examples of both the sites weebly and blogger provided by my teacher before overall deciding that I generally preferred the layout of blogger. After having watched a short student-created tutorial on how to make a start to creating my blog, I then moved onto experimenting with the site by adding some gadgets, writing in the ‘about me’ section and looking at the different themes and layouts I could create. Examples of such layouts where I made slight adjustments (such as varied colours, fonts and background image with a few photographs that I had taken) include:
I eventually came to the conclusion that my favourite layout is the one below as it best suited my personal aesthetic, although I may have to make adjustments depending how my understanding of the site expands and on the pathway I choose between making a moving image or print and what genre I choose to make it in so that both my final piece and my blog will correlate.
